I study the administrative machinery of criminal legal systems with an eye toward creating pathways to structural change.
I am currently a fellow at the Quattrone Center for the Fair Administration of Justice at Penn Carey Law School. Before that I was a public defender in New York City. I write about topics including holistic public defense, interstate extradition, executive clemency, and the allocation of resources in the criminal legal system. My academic work is published or forthcoming in the Washington University Law Review, the Wisconsin Law Review, and the N.Y.U. Review of Law and Social Change. I am quoted in coverage of the August 2026 interstate extradition dispute between Texas and Minnesota in The New York Times, the Washington Post, the Associated Press, and The Atlantic, and have an op-ed discussing the episode's implications in The Hill.
I live with my wife and son in Philadelphia, where we enjoy cooking, travel, and spending time outdoors. I am currently on the job market and look forward to the next stage in my academic career.
